The Return of Nick and Kate
Just a heads-up that the lovely Nick and Kate will be back in K'burg this weekend on a stop-over during their California trip.
They're arriving in LA sometime today and hanging around with the beautiful people for a few days before heading north towards Yosemite and eventually San Francisco before returning back home.
We have already apologized that they have missed out on hanging out by the pool but, in an attempt to ensure that Nick gets his fair share of the sunshine, I will be generously offering to let him mow the lawn - those of you who have seen the lawn at the new house will know just how generous offer that is. ;)

We've been CC'd
As part of my commute to San Mateo yesterday I first headed to Walnut Creek (East Bay) to collect our new 'grown up' vehicle - an Island Grey VW CC. She's very pretty.
CC and I will be hanging out in San Mateo tand getting to know each other better his week as I have some of my team members in town from various parts of the world. I am looking forward to introducing her to M later this week - I'm sure they will adore each other.
But in the meantime, I have her all to myself. Perhaps I'll take her to the seaside...

Moving Helpers
We wanted to say a big UlloaSullivan thank you to everyone who helped with the move over the past couple of weeks. You guys rock! We couldn't have done it without you.
Not least because the cats were of no use whatsoever - when they weren't exploring on/behind/between the packing boxes they were sleeping on them.

Home Is...
... where this table and chairs are.
Yep, we've officially moved in to the new abode - as marked by the presence of the table and chairs that we have taken with us to every new home we've lived as a married couple. All the way from Sterling Close, via Newbury. Berks, UK and San Mateo to Kingsburg, CA.
It's been a long journey and we've weathered some challenging storms but I'm pleased to say that we're looking better than ever. And the table and chairs are looking pretty good too. :)
Cornflake and Miko still aren't too sure of things but they are gradually getting the hang of it - finding all the great new vantage points from which to watch the world (i.e. birds, insects, baby frogs) go by.
It's going to take a while to get things just as we want them and we're going to take our time and do it right. If you're visiting us any time soon you'll have to bear with us. The good news is that it's already starting to feel like home. And now that all our stuff is here I guess it actually is.

Farewell My Summer Love
We had a blast with Neil and Tracey over the last week - whether it be joining my daily walks to Starbucks, re-introducing us to the joys of that delicately-named Aussie card game, teaching us about the protective nature of Alpacas when farming Sheep, watching Gavin & Stacey or, most recently, partying like it's 1999 in Vegas, we thoroughly enjoyed their visit.
Tracey will be back over in December for MOAB III but we will have to wait a full 12 months before we get to see Neil again, much to my upset. He has promised to write and think of me every day until then. We will also be looking to keep the bromance alive by collaborating long-distance on a track that he laid down some guitar parts for over the weekend.
If music be the food of love, play on farmer boy, play on.

Pssst! Toby! Are You There?
Hey Toby - it's Fluff from the Squirrel Gang again.
Remember me? Remember us? Well, we've been watching you and your progress and things seem to have been going pretty well since we last contacted you - you've recently been on your first plane ride (to California, no less), you've met Cornflake and Miko, been on some walks with Uncle Craig and you've heard the 'Sunshine' song that Aunt Melly Moo sings. I also see from my notes that you have just celebrated your 2nd birthday. Congratulations!
However, through the squirrel grapevine we've become aware of a small glitch in your otherwise sterling developmental progress. Or is it, perhaps, that Mummy and Daddy might have exaggerated your skills? - mental note: they will do that for the rest of your life. Anyway, I've interrupted my summer vacation to reach out to you so that we can address this quick sharp.

Apparently Daddy has been boasting about how good you are on the phone - that you're holding full conversations; talking about the weather, how today's lunch wasn't quite as good as yesterdays but that Mummy was in a bit of a rush so it doesn't surprise you, that you'd prefer to watch more highbrow television shows (you're particularly fond of Torchwood and other shows in the Sci-Fi genre) but are stuck watching traditional toddler fare and that if you have to wear that one particular T-Shirt that she really likes but you don't think is really that trendy for a 2 year old in 2009. But whether it's because you're shy or distracted or tired or you simply didn't have anything to say, we understand that the recent call from Melly Moo wasn't all that exciting. Or coherent.
No worries - these are just the sort of challenges that we are here to help you with. And in this case we know just how to help.
So, let's say that you're busy playing with your cars and the phone rings and Mummy says 'Toby - it's for you' and you just don't feel like talking right now, all you have to do is go over into the corner and pretend to start having a poo. Pull those faces, hold up your hand so people know that you don't want them to look at you, squat down a little bit if you have to for maximum effect. Not only will Mummy know that you're 'doing the business', so to speak, but it's unlikely that she'll want to come over and interrupt you because she knows it will smell - particularly if you ate all your vegetables at lunch or dinner time. Of course, for extra points you can actually just go ahead and have the poo if you would like/need to - sometimes it's just a nice relaxing thing to do.
So there you have it - don't want to talk on the phone right now? Have a poo. It's a very simple tactic and just another tool for your developmental toolkit.
A word of warning: For obvious reasons, only use this technique while wearing a nappy/diaper.

Let The Moving Begin
We just completed our first trip over to the new house with the boxed contents of the living room and play room. It was probably a bit crazy as it's approaching 100 degrees outside but we were excited - as was Mark Anthony who apparently didn't sleep last night because he couldn't wait to help out/see the new house.
Lizz was on hand to capture some 'spontaneous' photos of us entering the house for the first time as the official owners.
There will be another trip later on today with more boxes from the garage and some electronics (er, you need to have music to motivate you while you do stuff in the new home!) and there will be some intermittent trips over the course of the next two weeks leading up to the big furniture and other items move day on the 15th.
