Apparently this tiny, rare owlet was discovered in the wild in a remote part of Peru for the first time recently. It's very small and apparently there are only between 250 and 1000 of them hanging around in some forests that are gradually getting destroyed through deforestation.
I'm always happy when I learn of discoveries like this - it reminds me that no matter how bored or frustrated I might be there is always something new to discover, something new to learn. And that, to me, is what being here is all about.
