It was a beautiful day - weather in the high 80s - and after a half-round of golf (for the Groom's party) and a morning of pampering at the Bella Miah Day Spa (for the Bride's) the ceremony got off to a start with Steph and Graham being driven through the gates in a Black and White 1957 Oldsmobile.
As the Deputy of Commissioner of Marriage for the day I conducted the ceremony - according to Meleena, apparently maintaining just the right balance of humor and seriousness as befitting of the occasion - and pronounced them Husband and Wife as they lit a Unity Candle. Ellie and Becca were Bridesmaids, Reece was the Ring Bearer, Neil the Best Man, Meleena and Claire gave beautiful readings as Steph's brother Graham (happily) gave Steph away.
From there it was on to photos and food preparation followed by the usual round of toasts, some speeches from Reece, Becca and Neil (including a song entitled 'Victoria' that I was able to assist with) before a showing of the brand new Stag Party (Bachelor Weekend) video recording of Paul and his cohorts performing YMCA in full Village People regalia.
Congratulations Paul and Steph!
M and I would like to thank everyone who helped us in pulling everything together - both in the advance preparations to make the house and yard presentable to everyone who provided guidance and input during planning and who participated on the day in whatever shape or form. We couldn't have done it without you. For real.
P.S. Yes, I've mailed the Marriage License paperwork back to the Visalia Courthouse. ;)
