As many of you know, the month of June is going to be unusually busy for us here at Chez UlloaSullivan. What with honeymoon layovers, weddings, birthdays, visitors, trips - and the ongoing battle with our resident gophers - there is alot going on.

It's Official - FHS Aca Dec Promoted to Div 1
It is with tremendous pride that we are today able to share that, after several stellar performances over the past few years and their recent repeat win to be Division 2 Champions, the incredible Red Cats Academic Decathlon team - lead by our very own Ms. Ulloa - have been promoted to Fresno County's Division 1.
Congratulations to everyone that participated in this incredible run and success - in climbing all the way up from Division 5 just a few short years ago you have created a legacy and legend at Fowler High School and demonstrated just what can be achieved through dedication, fierce determination and copious quantities of Pizza. :)

Better Late Than Never
I'm a firm believer in both that sentiment and that it's never too late.
So, while I enjoy myself - seriously, it's a 'working trip' - here in Hawaii I wanted to make sure I took a moment to recognize my good friend Steve on achieving the majestic age of 40.
Having known Steve for the best part of 30 years I can honestly say that there are those times (and photos) that we both would really rather forget. And this, I am sure, is one of them.
So, Steve - please know that wherever I am in the world - I think back fondly to those days playing Atari, then Vic-20, then Commodore 64 games while drinking Sodastream and watching seminal teenage movies like Porky's, Porky's 2, etc. when your parents weren't home. *
Hope you had a great birthday, a fun weekend of partying and the rest of the birthday month brings all you desire.
Not least because that's what I'm wishing for myself next month. ;)

Happy Mother's Day
I remember this just like it was yesterday. I couldn't really move much - the blanket was really tight - and so couldn't really articulate/gesticulate just how happy I was that you were my Mum. And also that I was a little bit hungry.
But, now that I have the UlloaSullivan.com Web site as a platform by which to share my message wide and far, I am in no such way encumbered.
So... Happy Mother's Day, Mum. Almost 40 years later I am still delighted to be your Son.
And, I am still hungry. Fortunately, I can take care of that myself these days. :)
Oh, and Happy Mother'd Day to all you other Mothers (the nice kind, not the abbreviated cuss-word kind) on this special day. Bravo to you one and all!

Taking on Lodgers
Spring is definitely here.
Our garden has come very much alive over the past few weeks and the plants that had been dormant through the winter are now in full swing and working hard to flourish and bloom in time for the big events that are taking place in June.
In addition, we seem to be taking on all mannger of lodgers at the moment too. I regularly find myself interrupting the lizards sunbathing on the rocks in the front of the house and, cheekily, now in the back too. We are encountering Black Widow spiders in the shed and garbage cans, retarded Woodpeckers that try and get inside the bamboo stakes holding up the trees, the Gophers and Crayfish that we've told you about before and, just recently, Red-tail Hawks circling over the house looking for, probably, many of the things I've been mentioning in this paragraph.
What really takes the biscuit though is discovering a couple of finch-sized birds (need to figure out what they are) that have decided to build their (love)nest on top of our exterior speakers on the guesthouse.
We're quickly beginning to think that we've got it all backwards and that we should be asking the local wildlife for their permission to live here.
