Japanese Welcome

The Japan team threw a Welcome Party for me after hours on Friday night with beer, wine, sake, pizza, sushi, and squid jerky all on the menu. In addition, the NetSuite Japan ladies gave me a gift - a business card holder (an important accessory for Japanese business life) and a survival pack of 'just add water' food.

Over the course of the last four weeks I have been working hard at picking up bits and pieces of everyday Japanese - I can pretty much count now, although the number 8 seems to cause me problems, and I also know how to say that something is boring (Tsumanai). Oh, and I can also say 'I have two cats'. Of course, me being me, because I know how to say that I like to insert it into conversations every now again just for fun - the locals understand what I said but can' work out why I would say it. Great fun.

After the party, Hanako and Yuka took me out for drinks at a Salsa Bar. It was one of those surreal moments when you feel like you're in a dream sequence in a movie? It was definitely pretty strange looking around the bar watching dozens of locals concentrating very hard on their latin dancing - some wearing cheerleader outfits (and not just the girls).

It certainly wasn't tsumanai that night.

... not everyone can pull off wearing Orange but Connor Kirchman, like myself, is one of them.
