Getting Married?
Scarlett dearest,
I admit that I didn't quite get it at first, but what better cover for our affair than for you to pretend to get married to that Ryan Reynolds guy today? You're a genius! A beautiful, gifted genius.
Don't worry. I do understand it's for the best. Even if I will inevitably get a bit jealous at times - I just wish you could declare your love for me publicly. But I know that can never happen. But I do know it will all be worth it when we're able escape those troublesome paparazzi for some private time every now and then.
I still have the apartment in Tokyo and I know you like it over here, so just let me know when you can slip away to get 'lost in translation' again.

Hanako's Birthday Party
I was joined by 5 Japanese ladies - calling themselves 'Sullivan chan's Harem' - for a party in my apartment last night.
We were celebrating Hanako's birthday and I had previously promised them all that I would invite them to see where I've been living so it made perfect sense to kill 2 birds with one stone, so to speak.
Yuka joined me for a quick shopping trip to Don Quixote in Roppongi to pick up plates, decorations and other essentials. Hanako had specifically requested rum and fireworks for her party and we were able to locate a bottle of Captain Morgan and some sparklers (in lieu of candles) for her birthday cake. Yuka also helped me with some quick decorating at the apartment before we went to a nearby Mexican restaurant for some food before the party got into full swing back here at #1104 Pacific Tower.
It seemed like everyone had a great time. Especially Hanako who, after a few glasses of rum and coke, began asserting that her cat is the cutest and showing us pictures on her cell phone to prove it. Of course, birthday or not, I had to disagree - everyone knows Miko and Cornflake are by far the best looking kitties.

My Japanese Barber
Here's a picture of Haga san, the barber I go to here in Tokyo.
I stopped by for an appointment on the way to the office this morning to take advantage of his 'before 10am' discount offer. I've been doing that every couple of weeks since I moved out here and it has been working out great. We've figured out how to get past the language barrier so that he now knows what setting to use on his clippers and I always leave there looking even more handsome than usual.
I know, I know - hard to believe, huh?

Dancing in the street

After having dinner with Hanako on Friday night - it turned out to be a couple of dishes that consisted mostly of cabbage with other stuff that Michelle wouldn't like - I've kept pretty much laid low waiting for the typhoon to roll in. I kept my date with WiiFit in the morning and realizing I needed a few supplies, I went out for a couple of hours and walked around Roppongi, browsed some books and CDs, bought a few bits and pieces for dinner and then made my way back to the apartment to chat with Michelle before she went to bed.
Around 7pm I realized that there was some banging and singing going on outside so I went to investigate and came across this little party taking place in the street next to the apartment building. There were vendors selling beer and stuff outside the restaurants, lanterns all along the street and people generally enjoying themselves. I thought about joining in the dancing but realized I wasn't wearing my fancy kimono so had to just watch from the sidelines. If only I'd known about the party I would have planned ahead!

Depressing Forecast
I thought I would share this with you all just so that you know my life isn't all glamour, fancy dinners and gin & tonics on the beach.
Well, there is quite a bit of that. Just not all the time. And, it would seem, not this weekend.
Btw, I am just heading out now for what Hanako has described as 'Advanced Japanese Food'. Apparently it looks gross but tastes good. At least it's not the other way around. I'll let you know how it goes...
