Gran Buckerfield's Funeral

St Mary's Church, Cholsey

We attended Gran Buckerfields' funeral today at St Mary's Church, Cholsey and the follow-on service at Oxford Crematorium. I'm pretty sure it had been 14 years since I'd been to the chuch - the last time being for Grandad Buckerfield's funeral - and I'd forgotten quite how beautiful a location it is.

The funeral service was very personal - the vicar knew Gran from when she lived in Cholsey - and was both sad and joyous at the same time. Between the church and the crematorium Neil, Maya and I took a quick detour up Rothwell's Close to see where Gran and Grandad used to live and to take a picture of the allotments for Rita. Paul had stopped by there earlier and said that Grandad's own allotment has since grown over and is no longer there so we didn't bother to venture across to see it for ourselves.

It was good to catch up with all of our cousins - all 5 of them! - afterwards and, of course, all of their kids; one of whom is now 18 and heading off to college!

There are some more pics of the flowers, Cholsey, and some of the folks that attended over on the Flickr site. Click the link on the right to check them out...
